Abstract:

This study was based on the question that if we are writing a movie script revolving around the "Mahdi", the screenplay will follow which of the formal and technical pattern. Classic film screenplays are usually designed based on a patterns typically known as Aristotelian model. With regards to the philosophical foundations and cultural origins in which such patterns are based on, these cannot be an appropriate catalyst for infallible and divine characters, such as Mahdi. Given the complex structure of the numerous aspects of the script (like the story plot, character development, writing, etc.), this study only focuses the "character development" in the script, in which the technical characteristics and requirements of the characterization of the Screenplay are considered. In this way, their effectiveness in character design of Mahdi will be evaluated.Hypothesis of this paper is that the technical capabilities of the movie script patterns typically known as Aristotelian figures are only appropriate for designing the earthly characters and (for outr purpose), structural characteristics of these patterns including characterization should be manipulated and of a new set of features be provided in the structure of such movie scripts.

Abstract:

Typography is an essential tool in visual communication and thus, selecting the appropriate typeface is crucial to express and convey a message. Perhaps using the word ‘ character’ in the field of typeface and typeface design seems a bit odd and weird; but in fact just like human beings, fonts and their numerous forms can take on various characters such as ‘ childish’ , ‘ female’ , ‘ male’ , ‘ kind’ , ‘ upset’ , etc. Such character development for typefaces and recognizing them can help significantly to the design and use of Persian fonts. Since most of the studies conducted in the field of typeface design focus on legibility, less attention has been paid to other features. This is the main reason behind the current latency or even regression in designing new functional fonts and their optimal use. Therefore, there is a necessity for conducting a research to better recognize the characteristic of typefaces as per their typographical and aesthetic features. In this regard, the paper at hand focuses on the visual expression of typefaces and their designing features. One of the main features that distinguish this research from others in the field of designing Persian fonts is conducting field studies and the use of statistical analysis according to the data obtained for the recognition and classification of various font characters. Consequently, pre-planned questionnaires were distributed among the residents of Larestan as well as the students of Islamic University of Yazd taking into account a series of criteria such as: gender, age, education and etc. Out of approximately 100 questionnaires circulated, 90 individuals responded voluntarily and this number of participants may reflect high precision in calculations. Likewise, from among the most popular typefaces used in various forms of media such as newspapers, books, websites and etc., 50 ones were chosen out of which 18 were classified in different groups as per criteria such as: abiding by the rules of traditional calligraphy, being monoline, regular or irregular and etc. Ultimately, considering some personality traits such as: legible, happy, creative, attractive, slipshod, calm, friendly and self-confident, 14 typefaces were divided in four particular groups. Then aiming to identify typeface design characteristics of Persian fonts considering their unique features, their typographical and aesthetic features were examined separately first collectively then individually. The typographical features included: legibility, X-height proportion, ascender and descender proportions, typeface weight and etc. The aesthetic characteristics comprised of: details, elaborateness, nature of fonts and harmony on each of which this study shall comment scientifically and statistically. The result of the statistical analysis as well as the structural, typographical and aesthetic analysis of the typefaces and studying the results in association to the other indicated the existence of a relationship between character development in typeface design as well as typographical and aesthetic features, some of which are briefly as follows: 1. The larger in ascender, the smaller in descender and lighter in weight, the resulting typefaces will be more legible. 2. Heavy weight is the most important and most prominent element leading to the emergence of typefaces possessing ‘ explicit and decisive’ character; while they share commonalities with that of legible characters in other typographical and aesthetic features. 3. To create a ‘ happy’ typeface, the X-height and ascender should be larger with the descender as smaller as possible. Considering the above points one could realize that factors such as X-height, ascender and descender can greatly affect the development of numerous, various typeface characters. Therefore, according to the results achieved, one can contribute to the creation of more beautiful fonts to be used in different visual media through better identification of the characters and their proper use. Hopefully, through providing a fresh approach towards the recognition and identification of different typeface characteristics, this research could assist those interested in typeface design creation contribute to the completion of this study and employ their own creativities and innovations to better serve the field of designing functional, Persian fonts.

Abstract:

Statement of Problem: The national design histories have been both popular and challenged framework. This dual aspect has also intensified in the context of globalization. The dominant Functionalist approach limits the identity of products to their usability purposes,On the other hand, vanguard design historians based on Postcolonial approach consider product design to be inspired by different climatic and socio-cultural conditions. Therefore, how could product design, as a part of the nation's material culture, mean national or regional recognition? How does product design convey a particular national character to users? Research Method: In response to the above questions, the article is a qualitative study that has been done in descriptive-analytical method based on library sources. The study has examined the macro-essentialist methods to create a national design based on identifying the concept of national character in design. Research Objective: Recognizing the role of the national design and its Essentialist approach in global design history and to identify the methods and techniques applied to form a national design based on the creation of a national character. Conclusion: In this study, by examining the valid documents of the national design history, five general effective methods in establishing national character in product design were identified: Extraction of aesthetic features according to national character, Specific functional characteristics of the product derived from the national character, designing products based on the citizens` lifestyle as a national brand, Constructing the product using native materials and its special manufacturing method and finally, a national design thinking that is rooted in the various worldviews. In all the methods, achieving an essential identity and creating a national character in design has been done by relying on two factors: "specific element or phenomenon of design" and "historical durability" of that element.

Abstract:

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is one of the most successful techniques of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and is mostly in use for the treatment of infertility with male factors. In this method, before injecting sperm into the intracytoplasmic of the oocyte, cumulus cells around the oocyte must be stripped to facilitate the injection process. To achieve this, both enzymatic and mechanical methods are used in embryological laboratories for denudation, which has major deficiencies, including the possibility of damaging the oocyte prior to the injection process. In this research, a microfluidic-based device is introduced for the separation of cumulus cells around the oocyte with minimum manual operations. The results prove high efficiency, and non-destructive denudation of the oocyte with the reduced amount of culture medium leads to the low-cost preparation process of oocytes. The process can also be integrated with ICSI chips under development and will be reported shortly.

Abstract:

One of the issues of reliable performance in the power grid is the existence of electromechanical oscillations between interconnected generators. The number of generators participating in each electromechanical oscillation mode and the frequency oscillation depends on the structure and function of the power grid. In this paper, to improve the transient nature of the network and damping electromechanical fluctuations, a decentralized robust adaptive control method based on dynamic programming has been used to design a stabilizing power system and a complementary static var compensator (SVC) controller. By applying a single line to ground fault in the network, the robustness of the designed control systems is demonstrated. Also, the simulation results of the method used in this paper are compared with controllers whose parameters are adjusted using the PSO algorithm. The simulation results show the superiority of the decentralized robust adaptive control method based on dynamic programming for the stabilizing design of the power system and the complementary SVC controller. The performance of the control method is tested using the IEEE 16-machine, 68-bus, 5-area is verified with time domain simulation.

Abstract—This paper presents an intelligent non-player char- acter(NPC) for a survival game with a modified Q-learning-based scheme. Due to the dynamics of the computer game environment, reinforcement learning is employed to make this agent smart. This leads the agent to react appropriately based on the game’s scenario by choosing an action that provides a higher reward in the current situation. This is like a brain for the target NPC that processes different situations and reacts appropriately. Our intelligent agent is applied to a sample survival game with different complexity levels. In this game, multiple characters and objects alongside win-and-lose scenarios are considered. Our designed intelligent NPC is equipped with modified Q-learning to interact and try different actions on objects and learn about them. This learning process leads to an experience saved in the designed agent to react best to the environment. The efficiency of our proposed approach is evaluated through multiple scenarios and the appropriate reaction of the NPC is verified.

Abstract:

Non-cooperative intelligent control agents (ICAs) with dedicated cost functions, can lead the system to poor performance and in some cases, closed-loop instability. A robust solution to this challenge is to place the ICAs at the feedback Nash equilibrium point (FNEP) of the differential game between them. This paper introduces the designation of a robust decentralized infinite horizon LQR control system based on the FNEP for a linear time-invariant system. For this purpose, two control strategies are defined. The first one is a centralized infinite horizon LQR (CIHLQR) problem (i.e. a supervisory problem), and the second one is a decentralized control problem (i.e. an infinite horizon linear-quadratic differential game). Then, while examining the optimal solution of each of the above strategies on the performance of the other, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the equivalence of the two problems are presented. In the absence of the conditions, by using the least-squares error criterion, an approximated CIHLQR controller is presented. It is shown that the theorems could be extended from a two-agent control system to a multi-agent system. Finally, the results are evaluated using the simulation results of a Two-Area non-reheat power system.

Abstract:

Sa'di Shirazi, in contrast to other poets and writers, has a unique feature that distinguishes him from others. This feature is a realistic and conscious look in the world that Sa'di portrays in Golestan. Saadi's look in Golestan is a real land of his world, not of the kind of worldly-wise religious and mystical views that make it practically a narrow, dark and high-risk passage that should close the eyes and ignore it. The author attempts to portray the image of someone who is related to his real world and is sufficiently terrestrial, contrary to the imagination of those who like to know Saa'di as just a mystic or religious preacher. The typology of human beings in Golestan, attention to the requirements of human nature, the sentimental life, the description of the details of life, (= incident), satire and humor though, empiricism in ethics and social issues, and the discussion of the presence of wisdom is one of the things that This article has been emphasized.

The most authentic information concerning Bābā Tāher may be found in Rāvandī's book Rāhat al-sudūr.In this book, Bābā Tāher's visit with Toqrol the Seljūqīd in Hamadān as well as his recommendation to Toqrol as to respecting justice have been mentioned. But Bābā Tāher's real life, like that of many other sufists, has been hidden behind a halo of ambiguity and myth. With regard to the concepts of Bābā Tāher's quatrains one can say and even accept that he has been neither an Ahl-e Tarīqat, as the word is described in different books, nor a gnostic, abandoning all personal desires, nor an obvious claimer of gnostic illumination which is the greatest point in mysticism, but his inner grief and his hermitage and enthusiasm as well as his natural ability in seeing or feeling unknown and invisible things formed his typical mysticism. His dervish-like life style which made a saint out of him in public opinion, placed him in a position higher than austers and hermits and lower than great mystics so much as his name was recorded as a fascinated disciple.
